Kenya

I don't know if anyone is still reading this, but I just read this short article about a new genocide that is beginning in Kenya. This "ethnic cleansing" began because of the recent elections in Kenya. Here is the link: http://www.guardian.co.uk/kenya/story/0,,2249481,00.html

Luckily I saw this post because I subscribed to our blog on my daily internet feed.
Unrelated to the post, I think that it would be amazing if we could keep publishing posts on this blog. It would truly speak to one of the purposes of the class if we continued discussing and learning about issues of genocide and human rights even after the course. Even though the course is over, genocide is far from reaching its end. By continuing the dialogue, we ensure that we do not forget and that these issues are at least somewhere in the back of our minds.

agreed Melanie. So - on that note. has anyone declared this a genocide yet? (I doubt US will considering the whole economic input the US has there - does that make the US responsible?)

I'm not sure if anyone has declared it a genocide, but that is what it was called in the article. I agree any news anyone gets on this or related topics please post!
